"Psychopaths Anonymous" by Will Carver

An audio book

Maeve, a successful advertising manager, decides she'd like to start a group for psychopaths. She regularly visits AA groups because she drinks, but mostly to study the participants, sleep with some of them, and collect victims. She befriends Jill, makes her her PA. She's addicted to AA. She notices the seating arrangements, whether religion is used, whether repeated lapsers turn up. She knows all the steps. She tries to follow them. She understands how people have to invoke some sort of Higher Power beyond themselves. She like the "Footprints in the sands" (FITS) AA group. She likes reality shows.

She invites her sponsor Gary over from FITS, drugs him, strips him and ties him to a bed before killing him with power tools, dumping his body in her deep freezers. She's hurt to hear that Gary sponsors 8 others. She invites Seth who she met through work, originally intending to kill him, but then deciding to love him.

She makes (and updates through the book) a list of people who she's hurt, and who she should make amends to. She refollows the steps in psychopath mode. She takes her psychopaths anonymous group on a field trip to a church and each of them in turn confesses. One of her group turns out to be a mass murderer. She stops the meetings.

She discovers that 3 local mobsters are exploiting Jill. She kills them. She discovers that Jill has restarted the meetings, calling the group "Friends of Maeve". She kills Jill. Seth's been acting strangely. He turns up with a dead blonde in his boot. It must be love.
