"Autobiography of Red" by Anne Carson (Cape, 1999)

A novel in verse whose line-breaks I found hard to understand, and whose 1.5 spacing looks odd. I wasn't keen on the framing mechanism either! But once into the autobiography itself I was won over. Prose's plot powers are sacrificed so that changes in subject matter can be abrupt, and leitmotifs can be resumed at any time.
