"Best of Young British Novelists 2003", by Ian Jack (ed) (Granta 81, 2003)

My favourites were Sarah Walters, Toby Litt, Peter He Davies, AL Kennedy (its/it's confusion on p.234?), Robert McLiam Wilson. There's not such a difference between these and Writers Group stories - the latter are more experimental and varied, lacking the sparkle of AL Kennedy first page or 2 and erring on the stodgy side. But David Mitchell's piece wouldn't be out of place at a Writers Circle.
