"The Amateur Marriage" by Anne Tyler (Vintage, 2004)

Different kinds of people are depicted interacting in various situations (though children rarely speak to children, and deaths happen off-stage). Some nice touches ("She wore shorts underneath her dress so that she could do cartwheels and headstands any where she liked", p.162). Though I wasn't especially impressed, it read well enough to me. I liked the in medias res scene changes.
