"Pretext, volume 2" (Pen&Ink, 2000)

A book-shaped magazine with nearly 250 pages - poetry, interviews and articles. It says in the introduction by Julia Bell that "This magazine comes from a dynamic culture of reading and writing at the Unversity of East Anglia." It includes poetry by Sebold and an interview with Martin Amis. Other names I recognise are Peter Ho Davies, Paul Magrs, Lorna Sage, Christine Brooke-Rose, Ramona Herdman (about to publish another poetry book) and Bridget O'Connor (later to win a BAFTA).

I liked most of the pieces, though authors sometimes seemed to be trying hard to react against (say) Margaret Drabble - drug and booze lifestyles feature.
