Connie, just over 60, is a euro tour guide for about half the year. Her husband, Devan, the same age, has just retired from being a doctor. They have daughters and little a grandchild.
He hasn't coped well with retirement - he's drinking and they're not having sex. He'd expected her to retire. They're becoming detached. One of the people (Jared, 50) on a Lake Como tour is attracted to her. She resists. He sends her presents at her home. He surprises her in Florence (sex in a sidestreet) and Poland (she lets him into her hotel room for more than a night). The sex is the best she's ever had.
Back home, Devan admits he's been depressed. He's opened his soul to friends as well. They have sex for nearly the first time in 2 years. She forgets their wedding anniversary - he's put on a lavish surprise party. Next day she leaves for her next tour, in Scotland. She decides that preserving her marriage is more important than Jared. If he turns up, she's going to end it. But when he turns up on the final night, her body decides to let her into the hotel. Then into her room. Then, seeing his beautiful eyes, into her bed. Just one last time.
He seems to accept her request to end it. But when she is fevered in a London hotel room, delerious, she accidentally phones Jared rather than Devan for help. Jared's understanding, helpful. He doesn't see why they shouldn't secretly carry on.
She takes 2 months to recover. Devan finds a part-time job. They've found a new equilibrium. Jared has rented a cottage in her village for six months. He doesn't want to let her go, he promises to to reveal their secret. She tells her sister about the affair. He befriends her friends and Devan, hints to one of them when drunk about he and Connie. She decides to tell Devan all about it. At her age, surely it couldn't have been just sex.
She moves out. Jared finds out where she is. Devan and Connie begin to make up. She moves back. They're doing ok. Then Jared breaks into their bedroom while they're there, and locks them all in. He's overdosed and wants to die in her presence. She jumps from the window to get help. He dies.
Too little depth. Too few turning points. Too much that linearly fills the blocked out plot.
