"Flash fiction festival seven" by Jude Higgins and Diane Simmons (eds) (Ad Hoc, 2024)

Is it my imagination or are these anthologies getting better each year? I suspect more people are writing flash nowadays, there are more ways to learn how to improve one's flash, and the anthology editors have more flash pieces to choose from.

Groups of pieces clearly come from the same prompt/workshop, which adds structure to the collection - it's interesting to see different treatments of the same theme.

My favourite piece was "The Poet's Wife" by Jupiter Jones, followed by "The Map of Desire" by Fiona McKay.

Michael Loveday's "The Ear" is a reprint from "He Said She Said", his HappenStance pamphlet. The words are the same, the punctuation's different.
