"The Forward book of poetry 2004" (Forward Publishing, 2003)

A few poems from magazines, but most of them from books, including 2 books from Egg Box publishing. Beth Orton and Connie Bensley were the only 2 judges I'd heard of - both good in their respective fields but leaving a lot of territory for the others to cover. About 32 free-form pieces, 10 form pieces (the form often original) and 17 pieces that were laid out regularly. Judi Benson was the most ambitious, Sarah Wardle's the one that most outstayed its welcome. I liked Stanley Moss's "Heartwork" and Jane Routh's "Kilo". Don't know how Joe Sherin's piece got in there.
