"Birthday Letters" by Ted Hughes (Faber & Faber, 1998)

I found it hard to approach this objectively. I welcomed the fact that Hughes is dealing with new content matter, but some of his old weakness show though. His heavy-handed overuse of a few archetypes don't work well in a collection which already has much repetition. Liked "Visit" and "The Bird" best - they dart around rather than aimlessly wonder.
